Modern Parallel

I started to think about public affairs in modern day where the woman has taken back her cheating husband and the power of that decision to forgive and accept his betrayal.
I've looked into the Monica Lewinsky scandal with Hilary Clinton sticking by Bill Clinton despite him first lying about the affair and then eventually publicly humiliating her, yet her remaining loyal to their marriage. Like Mary, Hillary refused to believe that Bill didn't love her.

"I never doubted Bill's love for me."

1930's America - A Feminist void?

I found a really interesting article here that comments on how Women's attitudes changed during and after the Great Depression regarding their position in society.

Society as a whole seemed to pigeon hole women, no doubt supported by a hugely patriarchal government, and wanted them back in their place: the Home!

Even Women of the time supported the idea, "A home, no matter how small, is large enough to occupy a wife's mind and time"

The lack of support for one another in a man's world, especially after the Suffragette's fought for their Daughters futures is frightening and yet very real. This feeling of mistrust is prevalent throughout the play as well.

CBL is a genius!

The legend that is Reno....

Hi everyone! Happy New year- cant wait to see you all "demain"....

So when researching the importance of Reno during this time I stumbled over this which I thought was super duperly useful... if you start reading from the funny poem it explains so much about what Reno symbolised then (and now) and why all the women went there;

xx

The ''Perfect'' Wife?

http://goodmenproject.com/good-feed-blog/marital-rating-scale-circa-1930/

Here's a link to a 'Marital Rating Scale' from the 1930s to determine whether or not you were a good husband or wife.

Whilst some points are really quite funny, there are many that we can probably still relate to in our relationships today.
